Valldemossa is a Mallorcan municipality 15-20 min from the capital of the island in the direction of the Serra de Tramuntana in the mountains. It is the highest town in Mallorca.
Valldemossa is known because of the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin and his lover, the French writer George Sand, stayed in the monastery of Valldemossa in the winter of 1838. This is one of the reasons why this municipality is one of the most visited on the island.
It is a very elegant municipality, with its cobbled streets only for pedestrian use and with a rich cultural heritage. These streets are full of small local shops, cafés, bars and restaurants and in each bakery you can find Cocas de Patatas also known as Cocas de Valldemossa (the famous biscuits from Valldemossa).
You can also visit the Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa, which has a church and an old pharmacy. The King Sancho’s palace is another historical monument of this municipality and probably one of the most visited buildings in Mallorca after the famous La Seu Cathedral.
On Sunday mornings the streets of Valldemossa are filled with visitors who come to the market to see typical Mallorcan products such as vegetables, fruits and cheese.
Another attraction of Valldemossa is the beach which is 2km away from the municipality. Therefore it is a quiet, non-crowded beach.
Living here is a privilege. Residents are aware of the treasure Valldemossa represents and that is why they feel great respect for the municipality. The peace and beauty it offers is the main reason why so many artists have chosen Valldemossa. Moreover, the short distance from Palma and the airport is another benefit.
The architecture and landscape in Valldemossa attract wealthy buyers looking for prestigious properties. Even so, the array of small properties in the municipality is not disappointing.
