Fornalutx nestles in the Serra de Tramuntana and borders Sóller and Escorca. It is named as “the most beautiful village in Spain“, which is an award received from the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain.
The population index of Fornalutx has increased over the years, even so, despite its acquired recognition and the arrival of international tourists during the last years, it doesn’t exceed 700 inhabitants.
This small municipality has always strived to maintain an atmosphere and a traditional appearance. With his streets adorned with cobblestones and facades of yesteryear, Fornalutx has become the best-preserved village in Spain according to the association that awarded it. And to this day, the opening of Soller Tunnel has facilitated its accessibility.
The great attraction that this municipality has it’s the village itself. It is a luxury to be able to walk through its narrow streets and admire at the same time its well-achieved architecture and beauty.
One of the most characteristic buildings in Fornalutx is the current city hall, which stands out for its defense tower of the 17 century. Also, like the most of the religious constructions of the island, the church stands out for its gothic features.
Near here is the Plaça d’Espanya, the main square of Fornalutx where there are small coffee shops or village shops. For big purchase, Sóller is located to few kilometers away and offers a wide variety of places.
Despite being a small municipality, Fornalutx is a dream for nature lovers. It has a privileged geographical situation for mountaineers and cyclists since it is located near the famous GR221 route, which runs through the whole mountain range.
This route is formed by a long path that allows you to discover the landscapes built with stone in the Serra de Tramuntana, observe the historical vestiges, learn myths, legends, and traditions, and also the local architecture, gastronomy, and crafts.
Furthermore, the municipality is not far from the beach, it is only 7 km away. Even the beach can be accessed by the tram that connects Sóller with the Port of Sóller, although first, it is necessary to go to Sóller by bus.
The municipality of Fornalutx doesn’t stop growing, and the international community increases in a phased manner. For this reason, in the village center, the traditional stone houses are kept, while in the surroundings, there is a wide variety of farms, which have extensive crops of orange trees and olive groves.
Due to its limited real estate development, the small size of the municipality and the high demand, the real estate offer is not very wide.
